Ottie Charles Yant was born in Dola, Hardin County, Ohio and later lived in the area of Lima. He was married to Amy Esperence Ross and they had four children. He entered the service in April, 1944 and was sent overseas later that year. On January 30, 1945 he was reported missing in action during the fighting between Colmar and Epinal in France and was officially declared dead on January 31, 1946.
