As early as 2014, the Foundation began to consult with LSG Landscape Architecture in the process of planning a unique and personal memorial to be dedicated to remembrance of veterans from Allen County, Ohio who died during military service. LSG designed a 2-acre memorial with four distinct and increasingly sacred zones within the site, which will allow for phased implementation. A series of radiating pathways unify the different areas of the site and allow visitors to travel through and experience it in a variety of ways as they choose.
Zone one forms a visible gateway near the intersection of Bellefontaine and Bowman Roads. Located at the terminus of the entry drive, this circular space supports formal gatherings hosting dignitaries and presentation of the honor guard.
The second zone is a large circular space central to the memorial which is dedicated primarily to the remembrance of specific military operations. Twelve granite walls are spaced equally around its perimeter in chronological order, and each displays images to symbolize those events in which county veterans died in service.
The third zone is dedicated to the memory of individual veterans who gave their lives. Each soldier’s name, unit and date is inscribed on continuous waist-high granite walls. These are located within a series of circular outdoor rooms, and each room is situated along a long arcing path.
The fourth zone is a continuous, curvilinear path along the outer memorial perimeter providing an opportunity for contemplative seating and a series of monuments dedicated to individual veterans.
The design was approved in early 2019 and LSG is currently assisting the Memorial Foundation with the construction drawingsfor this project.

FROM LIMA'S HOME TOWN STATIONS W.L.I.O. TV It was appropriate on D-Day that the Lima Eagles made a one thousand dollar donation to the Allen County [VETERANS] Memorial Foundation. Ninety percent of the donation will be used in program funds to build the war memorial. The concept behind the memorial is to honor Allen County veterans from all wars and branches dating back to the Civil War. Sisters of two different fallen soldiers from Vietnam received the check on behalf of the foundation. Having a local memorial to pay tribute to soldiers is important to them and the community.

Our Artwork ...We get a lot of compliments about the high quality of our art work and printed materials.
Must be expensive right? Well it's not, because ... all of our artwork for our web site and printed material is provided to us free of charge. While some of our art is created by other staff, all of the high quality art is created by our volunteer Art Director in Greenville, S.C. His expertise in graphic design has been used by such companies as Michelin Tire Co., B.F. Goodrich, B.S.N.F. Rail Way, Mack Truck and many others to promote their products.
Printing cost have been kept low by seeking the most cost effective solution to meet our needs. For example, we purchased 5 thousand 4 x 6 glossy cards with our Logo, Mission and information about our approach to memorial design. We took advantage of a promotion and got this done for only $15.73 or only .003 cents each.
Our board member Jim Whited, is the owner of Whited Printing Co. He provides us with invaluable expertise and volunteer labor in his print shop to print, bind, cut, fold, perforate and and other services. All of this allows us to have very high quality materials printed at a cost that does not reflect it's high quality. Since Jim is a member of the Board of Directors, we do not hire him for any printing services to avoid or appear to have any conflict of interest or impropriety.
Among the companies that we hire for print services Jim does not do for us are Fast Signs, Quick as A Wink, News Gazette, and IGT America printing companies all in Lima, Ohio
